KIDS HOPE USA

You can join the KIDS HOPE USA Team...

Mentor...

As a mentor you will model Christ's love by meeting for one hour each week for one year with a child in grade K-5.  The hour is chosen based upon your availability and your child's schedule.  Following a background check and an evening of training, you will be matched with a child, visit the school, and begin your mentoring.  You will also have the opportunity to deepen your relationship with your child through two KIDS HOPE USA sponsored events that we hold outside of school hours.

    A mentor must:

  • Love children and be sensitive to their needs.
  • Be ready to listen to a child.
  • Have his/her own transportation.
  • Maintain a confidential relationship.
  • Be a member or regular attendee of Jamestown Reformed Church.

Substitute Mentors...

As a substitute mentor you will attend training and have a background check done just as a regular mentor, but you will not be assigned a child.  Instead, your name will be on a list for mentors to call if they are sick or unable to make it to their session.  You should meet the same qualifications as listed above for a mentor, but you will only be called as needed.

Prayer Partners...

As a prayer partner you will commit to faithfully praying for a child and a mentor.  You must be willing to contact the mentor on a regular basis to discuss the child's needs and progress as well as any other requests the mentor might have.  You may also consider offering verbal encouragement or dropping your mentor a note of appreciation or affirmation occasionally.  Your initial commitment is for one year, but it is our hope that you will be willing to continue with the child and mentor throughout the duration of the relationship.
